Attorney General Moody's Week In Review

Hello Floridians! I am so honored to be your 38th Attorney General. This first week has been an amazing experience that I will never forget. I look forward to the many hard-working days ahead serving our great state.

Taking the oath of office this week was one of the most special moments in my life—to have my dad, James S. Moody, Jr., a Senior United States District Judge in the Middle District of Florida, swear me in on a beautiful January morning. It was even more special to take the oath of office on the same Bible that my grandfather, James S. Moody, Sr., took the oath of office on when he was sworn in as a judge over 60 years ago.

I also had my loving husband Justin and my wonderful nine-year-old son Connor by my side. Five days before the inauguration, Connor watched his older brother Brandon begin his service in the United States Army. I missed Brandon being with us, but I am so very proud of him.

I know we have a lot of work to do and I promise I take this role very seriously. As your chief legal officer, I will seek justice for all Floridians, defend the rule of law and protect our state and citizens from crime and fraud. I also want to tackle the opioid epidemic, fight human trafficking, support our law enforcement, stand up to elder abuse, evaluate how we handle mental health in our court systems, and much much more.

I also look forward to building relationships with Governor Ron DeSantis and my fellow Cabinet members, Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis and Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried as we work towards a better, safer Florida.

As I take on this new role, I promise to protect Floridians, defend the rights of the people, and display an unwavering commitment to the rule of law. Of course, none of this would be possible without the Floridians who voted me into office and entrusted me to serve as Florida’s Attorney General. I want to thank each of you for giving me this opportunity and I assure you that I will work hard every day to deserve this honor.
