Attorney General Moody's Week In Review

This week, I helped launch the Florida Law Enforcement Virtual Job Fair with the Florida Sheriffs Association and Florida Police Chiefs Association. This nationwide recruitment event aimed to bring in officers from across the nation to serve in a state that backs the blue.

Florida is the most pro-law enforcement state in the nation, and that isn’t just talk. We support our officers and have secured additional incentives and bonuses for those brave enough to wear a badge. These benefits include:
  • $5,000 bonus for new Florida law enforcement officers;
  • $1,000 allowance for basic recruit training costs;
  • Up to $1,000 of equivalency training costs; and
  • Up to $25,000 in down payment and closing cost assistance to eligible “hometown heroes” homebuyers and more!
Last year, Florida added more than a thousand officers to our state’s law enforcement ranks. More than half of these new officers are from out-of-state—where leaders may not stand up for those that protect and serve, like California, New York and Pennsylvania.

While this week’s job fair is now over, those still interested in a career in law enforcement should check out BeAFloridaHero.com. Be A Florida Hero is our comprehensive recruitment resource containing an interactive map of available career opportunities in law enforcement agencies statewide.

By supporting officers, and recruiting the best from across the country, we can continue building a Stronger, Safer Florida.

VIDEO: AG Moody, FDLE and Lakeland Police Chief Encourage Floridians to Take Part in 24th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Attorney General Ashley Moody, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Lakeland Chief of Police Sammy Taylor, Jr. are encouraging Floridians to help fight the opioid crisis by participating in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 22. Expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs could fall into the wrong hands, fuel addiction and even result in an overdose death. To prevent this, Floridians can properly dispose of these medications by visiting local, safe drop-off locations, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday, April 22.

Attorney General Ashley Moody said, “Addiction can begin with medications in your medicine cabinet, so I’m encouraging Floridians to join our fight to end the opioid crisis by disposing of expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs. These drugs could fall into the wrong hands—fueling addiction and even causing an overdose death. That is why it is so important to participate in National Drug Take Back Day, because this simple action could save a life.”

Following a Shocking Grand Jury Presentment, Attorney General Moody Calls on Congress to Investigate

Attorney General Ashley Moody is calling on Congress to investigate the Biden administration subjecting unaccompanied minors to human trafficking. This call comes after a Florida Statewide Grand Jury released its third presentment documenting horrible conditions unaccompanied minors experience because of the Biden administration’s failed policies and lack of oversight. Attorney General Moody is imploring Congress to convene hearings and act to prevent children from being assaulted and exploited.

Attorney General Ashley Moody said, “A Florida Grand Jury found shocking and horrific evidence of the Biden administration facilitating human trafficking and child exploitation of unaccompanied minors. It should enrage everyone that any child is being exposed to such dangerous and terrible conditions. I’m calling on Congress to conduct hearings to further the investigation and uncover the evidence that HHS refused to provide to Florida’s Statewide Grand Jury.”
